Tab S6 is an upgraded version of Tab S4, with a focus on improving hardware configuration. It will be the highest-end product of Samsung Android Tablet PC, and may become a competitor of Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro.

The Tab S6 will feature the Snapdragon 855 chipset, a 2560 x 1600 AM OLED screen, and a 7,040 mAh battery. Samsung claims a battery life of up to 15 hours. And the Tab S6 has also become thinner at only 5.7mm thick and lighter at only 420g. The main camera on the back of the Tab S6 features a dual-lens system with a 13-megapixel, f/2.0 standard lens and a 5 megapixel, f/2.2 123-degree wide-angle lens.

Like the Tab S4, the S6 features a two-in-one device for mobile work, supporting the stylus S Pen and keyboard.

The S Pen is standard, similar to the Apple Pencil, and can be magnetized in the special pen tray on the back side while charging. The Tab S6 also supports the S Pen’s air gesture/air mouse function, which does not require access to the screen. However, the air gesture/air mouse function is more power-hungry. The S Pen can obviously last up to 6 hours under standard use, but it can only last for about 30 minutes when using the air gesture/air mouse function. The buttons on the S Pen can also remotely control some programs, such as PowerPoint page flip and camera shutter.

The keyboard is optional and priced at $179. The touchpad is built into the keyboard case, so users can operate like a notebook when needed.

Tab S6’s operating system uses Android 9 Pie, and Samsung’s own OneUI interface. The bottom of the Tab S6 has a USB Type-C connector that can be projected onto an external display.

The Tab S6 is expected to be available in North America on September 6. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage costs $649, while the 8GB RAM/256GB storage costs $729. The LTE version will be available later this year.
